I wanted to give the new reflectance channel inside of Cinema 4d R16 a whirl. I’m was quickly impressed and found it easy to learn. Right off the bat I realized how expensive it can be on render times. Both renderings feature subdivision surface modeling which gave those round corners nice highlights which really make any and reflective material. C4D R16 doesn’t come with a big selection of metal shaders so I was required to build my own which took no time at all.

The first render uses two types of reflectance shaders. The carbon fiber weave uses the fabric effect on layer one and a highly reflective material to create a resin coat on layer two. The chrome logo uses a semi-blurred chrome texture layered up with an brushed anisotropic channel with it’s opacity dialed back.
